Kim Glover-Spencer
We are honored to have our scholarship fund named in honor of Sister Kim Glover-Spencer. Sister Kim served faithfully as our Church School Superintendent and Quarterly Conference Secretary, and as a Trustee.
Sister Kim was an award-winning Baltimore City Public Schools educator who served for 32 years. She received numerous accolades and awards during her tenure. Among the many received, she was listed as Who’s Who Among American Teachers 2005/2006, awarded for Outstanding Service to the BCPSS Systemic Gifted and Talented Education Program in 2006, honored by the Maryland State Department of Education for outstanding contributions and leadership in Gifted and Talented Education for the 2007/2008 school year. Her honors in education extended beyond the classroom. She implemented a Green Space Environmental Club that led to Cross Country Elementary Middle School’s Certification as a Maryland Green School and in 2007 she was honored as a Teacher of the Year Finalist by the Chesapeake Bay Trust.
Sister Kim was a master teacher. She loved teaching and her students, young and old, loved her. She always knew what to say to encourage and inspire.
Presently, the Scholarship fund provides $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors pursuing higher education (certification, 2-year or 4-year degrees).
